It feels big whenever it feels like you’ll be do It feels big whenever it feels like you’ll be doing your deepest work. ✍🏻

It feels big whenever it feels like this is what you came here to do, even if it terrifies you and lights you up in equal measure. (That’s because you can feel expansion and fear at the same time.) 🙌🏻

It feels big whenever you feel the most resistance—the resistance that says, ‘You can’t’, to which you reply, ‘Oh, but I can.’

Your biggest work is the work that calls to you in the silent moments in between; where lines you’ll later write drop down into your consciousness; where words float through your mind and you grab onto them with your pen, inviting them to live with you on paper. It’s the work that needs you, and only you, to call it through; to channel it, create it, and cultivate it through your words, your work, your energy, your intentions and your commitment to create. ♥️

If you start where it feels big, you’ll do the important work first (even if that means starting small).

When you do the important work first, the little voice that says ‘I can’t’ starts to fade. The more you start where it feels big, and the further into yourself and your creativity you roam, the more you’ll hear the whispers of ‘Oh, but I can’. You’ll hear them over and over until they transform, slowly but surely, into ‘See? I knew I could!’.

The beauty of the rush you can create yourself is beautiful because it’s exactly that; something you can create, without a moment’s hesitation, without a moment’s notice, without anyone else’s permission.

When I was writing my first ebook about a decade a When I was writing my first ebook about a decade ago, I got incredibly stuck, just a few weeks in.

I was so overwhelmed by other people’s work that I stopped valuing my own voice. 🥺

I was pushing myself to do work that didn’t feel like me, and I was pushing myself to do work when I was actually exhausted.

I wasn’t honouring the natural rhythms and cycles of my creativity.

I was getting confused between the idea of “pushing through resistance” and “pushing through exhaustion”. (They are very different, and if you ever ‘create’ anything in your business or life – and we all do – if you identify as being a creative, or a writer, or an entrepreneur, then you must discern the difference.)

As a recovering perfectionist, it was hard to drag myself away from the idea that my work had to be ‘perfect’ before it could be released. It was overwhelming to see the ‘end result’ when I felt so far from the beginning.

One day, I realised that if I wanted to step up in my business and life, I had to drop the creative comparison, let go of my procrastinating perfectionism and just sit down, and create. 👏🏻

I started doing less of the things that didn’t matter, and more of the things that (really) did.

I stopped comparing myself, my voice, and my work to others… and started valuing myself, my muse, and my creativity completely.

I honoured my creativity and deepened my creative self-confidence.

I let myself release my creativity whether I thought it was ‘perfect’ or not.

The difference in my work, creativity and levels of joy?

Huge! 🙏🏻

I could finally write from my heart and soul, without worrying about what other people would think of me.

I could finally make space for my creativity to show up, and honour it (fiercely).

I could finally do what I knew I was meant to do; write and create. In fact, I was finally able to call myself a writer.

If you’ve got a hankering to sit down and make something beautiful, I’d love to invite you to join me in Love What You Create. ✍🏻

It serves and supports you and others.
It’s creating something that you need to create, for the love of it, because you’re drawn to it and because you need to express yourself.

You don’t have to write ‘perfectly” to write beautifully.

You don’t have to write for 8 hours a day, or never leave your desk, or suffer and struggle through the creative process.
